Stage 02 · Cambridge Pathway

Primary

Cambridge Primary · Ages 6 – 11 · Year 1 – 6

Structured Learning Begins

Strong foundations. Confident, independent learners.

The Primary stage marks the beginning of structured academic learning, where students develop strong foundations in key subject areas while continuing to build confidence and independence.

At Brookevalley, these subjects are taught with depth and understanding — not memorisation. Learning is interactive and engaging. Classrooms are dynamic spaces where students discuss, explore, and actively participate in their learning.

A Two-Phase Journey

From foundations to independence.

Lower Primary · Year 1 – 3

Building strong foundations.

In the early years of Primary, the focus is on developing core skills in literacy, numeracy, and scientific understanding.

Students build confidence in reading, writing, and expressing themselves, while developing curiosity and a love for learning through hands-on and guided experiences.

Upper Primary · Year 4 – 6

Deepening knowledge, preparing for the future.

As students progress into Years 4–6, learning becomes more structured, analytical, and inquiry-driven. Students begin to:

  • engage in deeper subject exploration across all disciplines
  • analyse information and form logical conclusions
  • apply mathematical concepts to real-world problem solving
  • conduct independent and group research projects
  • develop advanced reading comprehension and structured writing skills
  • confidently present ideas, opinions, and solutions

In Global Perspectives and Humanities, students explore global issues, cultures, and real-world challenges — developing awareness, empathy, and critical thinking. In Science and ICT, learning becomes increasingly investigative.

Assessment & Progress Tracking

Continuous, purposeful, personalised.

Assessment is continuous and purposeful, allowing teachers to:

  • identify strengths
  • personalise support
  • track individual progress over time

Students are also gradually introduced to more structured assessments, helping them build confidence, discipline, and exam readiness.
